Mixcraft (Windows)

NOTE: Mixcraft does not allow routing that would make recording incoming Sessionwire audio possible.

There are many use cases and workflows for each DAW when integrating Sessionwire for remote collaboration. We have created a basic template for each DAW to give an idea of what routing should look like in order to avoid feedback loops between users connected in Sessionwire Studio.

It is recommended that all recording be done on the performing side of the Sessionwire call - meaning one side needs to have a DAW open to record in, while the other simply monitors the performance through Sessionwire.

Each user may be using a different DAW or may/may not be using an audio interface - therefore, each user will need to reference the correct signal flow diagram for their particular DAW and setup.

Below are common setups when using Sessionwire alongside Mixcraft.

Sending Audio from Mixcraft

This workflow is the simplest way to get up and running with Mixcraft alongside Sessionwire. Simply placing the Sessionwire Send plugin on the Master Track of a Mixcraft project will produce the same results as in the downloadable template.

  1. Set Sessionwire's Talkback Microphone and Talkback Speaker exactly as you would any video conferencing software - in the above image, the input is a webcam microphone and the output is the system's default output (an audio interface in this instance).

  2. Ensure the HQ Audio Source is set to Sessionwire Send Plugin.

  3. Ensure the HQ Audio Destination is the system's default output.

  4. Insert the Sessionwire Send plugin on the Master Track in the Mixcraft Session.

Sending and Receiving Audio within Mixcraft

This workflow will allow the sending of audio from a Mixcraft project while simultaneously receiving remote HQ audio directly into a Mixcraft project.

  1. Set Sessionwire's Talkback Microphone and Talkback Speaker exactly as you would any video conferencing software - in the above image, the input is a webcam microphone and the output is the system's default output (an audio interface in this instance).

  2. Ensure Sessionwire's HQ Audio Source is set to Sessionwire Send Plugin.

  3. Set Sessionwire's HQ Audio Destination to Sessionwire Receive Plugin.

  4. Route all audio in the session to be streamed to the Master Track in Mixcraft.

  5. Insert the Sessionwire Send plugin on the Master Track.

  6. Create a Stereo Audio Track and set the output of the track to Output Track, bypassing the Master Track - label the Aux "SW HQ Receive".

  7. Insert the Sessionwire Receive plugin on the "SW HQ Receive" track.

Using an Audio Interface for All Audio

(Users with advanced hardware setups)

In this workflow, it is assumed that an audio interface is being used as the input and output device of Mixcraft. A talkback mic is plugged into any channel of an audio interface and the input of the SW TB Send track is set to the corresponding channel (circled in image above).

  1. Set Sessionwire's Microphone input to Sessionwire Talkback Send Plugin.

  2. Set Sessionwire's Speaker output to Sessionwire Talkback Receive Plugin.

  3. Create a Mono Audio Track whose input is the audio interface channel that the talkback microphone is plugged into, and whose output is Output Track, bypassing the Master Track - label this track "SW TB Send". Input arm this track and mute it to avoid local feedback.

  4. Insert the Sessionwire Talkback Send plugin on the "SW TB Send" track.

  5. Create a Mono Aux track whose output is Output Track, bypassing the Master Track - label this aux "SW TB Receive".

  6. Insert the Sessionwire Talkback Receive Plugin on the "SW TB Receive" track.

  7. Create a Stereo Aux Track whose output is Stereo Out, bypassing the Master Track - label this track "SW HQ Receive".

  8. Insert the Sessionwire Receive plugin on the "SW HQ Receive" track.

  9. Route all audio in the session to be streamed to the Master Track channel.

  10. Insert the Sessionwire Send plugin on the Master Track channel.
