Send your mix with the Send plugin

The Sessionwire Send plugin streams audio from your DAW into the Session as HQ Audio. Anything that passes through it is what everyone hears.

Set it up

  1. Install the free Sessionwire Audio Plugins from studio.sessionwire.io/download, restart your computer, and rescan plugins in your DAW if it doesn't find them on its own.
  2. Put the Sessionwire Send plugin on the output you want people to hear. Most people use the main stereo output. See the two options below.
  3. In your Studio, open the menu next to HQ Audio and set HQ Audio Source to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
  4. Press play. Your HQ Audio meter in the Mixer should move.

What to put it on

Your main output. Put the Send plugin at the end of your main stereo output. People hear exactly the balance you hear. This suits mix reviews, writing and most Sessions.

Every DAW names its main output differently. A few examples:

  • Pro Tools: the master fader
  • Logic Pro and Cubase: Stereo Out
  • Ableton Live: Main (Master in Live 11 and earlier)
  • Studio One and Fender Studio Pro: Main Out
  • REAPER and FL Studio: Master

A separate cue mix. Create a stereo aux or bus, send each track to it at the level you want, and put the Send plugin on that bus. People hear a different balance from yours. This suits overdubs, where a performer wants more click or less of themselves, or a review where the client wants a different mix.

If you use room correction or headphone correction on your main output, put it after the Send plugin. Otherwise everyone hears your correction too.

If you're also receiving audio

If you're bringing someone else's HQ Audio into your DAW with the Receive plugin, keep that track out of whatever feeds the Send plugin. Otherwise they hear themselves come back with a delay. The cue mix setup above makes this easy. See Record someone with the Receive plugin.

If people can't hear you

  • Check HQ Audio Source is set to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
  • Check your HQ Audio meter moves when you press play. If your DAW's meters move but Sessionwire's HQ Audio meter doesn't, the Sessionwire drivers may not be loaded. See Sessionwire drivers or plugins not showing up.
  • Check your DAW's settings. A few that commonly stop the Send plugin:
  • Pro Tools: turn off Low Latency Monitoring and Dynamic Plug-in Processing.
  • Logic Pro: turn on Software Monitoring.
  • FL Studio: change the plugin wrapper settings.
  • LUNA: turn off ARM if you use an Apollo.
