The Sessionwire Receive plugin brings other people's HQ Audio into your DAW, where you can hear it, process it and record it. Before you set it up, it's worth knowing the best way to record someone remotely.
The best recording comes from the performer's own DAW. They record locally while you listen through Sessionwire and give notes, then they send you the files.
To work this way, both of you send HQ Audio with the Send plugin, and you turn on their HQ Audio so you can hear them.
If the performer would rather just play, you can drive their DAW for them with Remote Desktop Control: arm tracks, punch in and save, while they stay hands-free and focus on the performance. See Remote Desktop Control. See Hear a Guest's HQ Audio.
Recording on your side with the Receive plugin works, and it's handy for podcasts, voiceover and quick ideas. But know what you're recording:
REAPER is the only DAW that can record the Receive plugin's audio on the same track the plugin is on. See Use Sessionwire with REAPER.
If you're sending HQ Audio as well, make sure the Receive track doesn't feed the Send plugin. If it does, people hear themselves come back with a delay. The easy way is to put the Send plugin on its own cue mix bus instead of your main output. See Send your mix with the Send plugin.
