Sessionwire with Cubase and Nuendo | Sessionwire Help

Use Sessionwire with Cubase and Nuendo

Cubase and Nuendo use the VST3 versions of the Sessionwire plugins. The steps are the same in both.

Send your mix

  1. In the MixConsole, add the Sessionwire Send plugin to the last insert slot on the Stereo Out output channel. For a separate cue mix, create an FX channel, send each track to it, and put the Send plugin there instead.
  2. In your Studio, set HQ Audio Source to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
  3. Press play and check your HQ Audio meter moves in the Mixer.

Record a Guest

The best recordings come from the performer's side. If you need to record here, read Record someone with the Receive plugin first, as the recording arrives late by the round trip.

  1. Turn on the Guest's HQ Audio in your Mixer.
  2. Open Studio > Audio Connections. On the Inputs tab, click Add Bus, choose Stereo, and leave its device port set to Not Connected. Name it something like Sessionwire Receive.
  3. In the MixConsole, find the new input channel on the left and put the Sessionwire Receive plugin in its inserts.
  4. In your Studio, set HQ Audio Destination to the Sessionwire Receive Plugin.
  5. Create a stereo audio track with the new input as its input. Turn on Monitor to hear your Guest, and record-arm the track to record them. Plugins on an input channel are recorded with the audio, so the track records exactly what the Receive plugin plays.

If your Guest hears themselves back while you monitor them, move the Send plugin from the Stereo Out to an FX channel used as a cue mix, and leave the Receive track out of it.

On Windows

Most Cubase problems on Windows come from Windows sound settings: "Couldn't open input device", dropouts, or Sessionwire freezing. Turn off exclusive mode for the Sessionwire devices and your audio interface. See Set up Sessionwire on Windows.

Talkback through Cubase or Nuendo

Only needed if your talkback mic isn't on input 1 or 2, or you want to process it. See Route Talkback through your DAW.
