Sessionwire and Logic Pro setup | Sessionwire Help

Use Sessionwire with Logic Pro

Logic Pro uses the AU versions of the Sessionwire plugins.

Check these settings first

  • Make sure Low Latency Mode is off. It bypasses plugins to cut delay, and that includes the Send plugin, so nobody hears you.

Then open Logic Pro > Settings > Audio > Devices:

  • Turn Software Monitoring on, and monitor through Logic.
  • Set Process Buffer Range to Small or Medium. Large can cause clicks, pops and distortion on both ends of the Session.

Keep your I/O buffer low while you work, 128 or 256 samples on most current Macs. If you monitor through your interface's own mixer as well as Logic, you'll hear yourself twice, slightly out of time. Use one or the other.

Send your mix

  1. Put the Sessionwire Send plugin in the last insert slot on the Stereo Out channel. For a separate cue mix, put it on an aux instead and use bus sends to feed it.
  2. In your Studio, set HQ Audio Source to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
  3. Press play and check your HQ Audio meter moves in the Mixer.

Record a Guest

The best recordings come from the performer's side. If you need to record here, read Record someone with the Receive plugin first, as the recording arrives late by the round trip.

  1. Turn on the Guest's HQ Audio in your Mixer.
  2. Create an aux channel, put the Sessionwire Receive plugin on it, and set its output to your monitors. If you're also sending, put the Send plugin on a separate aux for your mix, not the Stereo Out, so the Receive aux can't feed it.
  3. In your Studio, set HQ Audio Destination to the Sessionwire Receive Plugin.
  4. Set the Receive aux to send to an unused bus. Create a stereo audio track, set its input to that bus, and record-arm it.

Talkback through Logic

Only needed if your talkback mic isn't on input 1 or 2, or you want to process it. See Route Talkback through your DAW.

If something's wrong

If the Send plugin says it can't find its device, or Logic can't see the plugins, see Sessionwire drivers or plugins not showing up.
