Sessionwire with other DAWs | Sessionwire Help

Use Sessionwire with other DAWs

Sessionwire works with any DAW that loads VST3, AU or AAX plugins, including Reason, Ardour, Harrison Mixbus, Adobe Audition and WaveLab. The plugins don't come in VST2. If your DAW doesn't have its own guide, these rules work everywhere.

Send your mix

  1. Put the Sessionwire Send plugin at the end of your main stereo output, or on a bus used as a separate cue mix.
  2. In your Studio, set HQ Audio Source to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
  3. Press play and check your HQ Audio meter moves in the Mixer.

More detail: Send your mix with the Send plugin.

Record a Guest

The best recordings come from the performer's side. If you need to record here, read Record someone with the Receive plugin first, as the recording arrives late by the round trip.

  1. Turn on the Guest's HQ Audio in your Mixer.
  2. Put the Sessionwire Receive plugin on a stereo track or aux and make sure you can hear it.
  3. Set HQ Audio Destination to the Sessionwire Receive Plugin.
  4. Route that track to a record-armed audio track.

The one rule that matters: the Receive track must never feed the track or bus with the Send plugin on it, or your Guest hears themselves come back.

If your DAW won't load the plugins

Send audio to the Sessionwire driver directly instead. See Other ways to route audio into Sessionwire.
