You can record a Session as a video of everyone, save the HQ Audio as a WAV file, or both. Recording is part of the Studio plan and the free trial.
The Record button appears once someone else has joined your Studio. You can't record on your own.
Before your Session
Choose your recording type in Settings > Session Settings > Session Recording before the Session starts. You can't change it once you've joined.
- Cloud records one video of everyone, using the layout you choose.
- Raw Tracks records each person separately, with separate files for their Talkback, HQ Audio and video. Use it when you want to edit or mix each person on their own, for example for a podcast.
Start recording
- Click Record at the bottom of your Studio.
- Type a name under Recording Name. It's required.
- Choose one or both:
- Cloud Recording saves a single MP4 video of everyone's camera, microphone and HQ Audio to your Vault. Choose a Layout: Grid shows everyone, Active Participant follows whoever is talking, and Single Participant records one person you pick.
- Local HQ Audio saves the HQ Audio as a WAV file. Tick Save to Device, Upload to Vault, or both.
- Click Start Recording.
Where recordings go
- Cloud Recordings go to your Vault.
- Local HQ Audio goes to your computer, your Vault, or both, depending on what you ticked.
See Your Vault.
Things to know
- If Automute is on, Talkback is muted in the recording while HQ Audio is playing, just as it is in the Session.
- A recording is only as good as the connection. Plug in with ethernet for anything important. See Use ethernet, not Wi-Fi.
- For the best quality recording of a performer, have them record in their own DAW. See Record someone with the Receive plugin.
