Record a remote podcast with Sessionwire | Sessionwire Help

Record a remote podcast or interview

You can record a podcast or interview with Guests in other places, with video, and with an audience listening live if you want one. Your Guests only need a link and a supported browser.

Recording the Session is part of Studio and the free trial. Raw Tracks, which records each person separately, is only on the Business plan. On Basic, you can host one Guest, and each person records their own audio, as described below.

Before the Session

  1. Go to Settings > Session Settings and set Session Recording before you start. This can't be changed once the Session has begun. On Studio, choose Cloud for one finished video of everyone. On Business, you can choose Raw Tracks instead: it records each person separately, with separate files for their Talkback, HQ Audio and video, so you can edit every voice on its own. See Sessionwire for teams, schools and studios.
  2. Send your Guests your Studio link, and point them to Join a Session as a Guest.
  3. Ask everyone to wear headphones and plug into their router with an ethernet cable.
  4. If you want listeners, make an Audience link. Audience members watch and listen without being seen or heard. See Audience links.

Record the Session

  1. Once everyone's in, click Record.
  2. Give the recording a name.
  3. If you set Session Recording to Cloud, choose Cloud Recording and pick a layout: Grid, Active Participant or Single Participant.
  4. Click Start Recording.

See Record a Session for the other options.

Keep a separate recording of every voice

A Cloud Recording mixes everyone together, and voices travel over Talkback, which is processed to keep conversation clear and depends on everyone's connection. For the best possible quality, and a separate file for every voice on any plan, ask each person to also record their own mic in their DAW or recording app, then send you the file afterwards. Drag it onto your video during the Session, or share it from the Vault.

If anything drops out during the Session, you'll still have every voice from these local recordings.

Playing music or clips

To play intro music, stingers or clips into the show, run them from your DAW with the Send plugin on the output. They go out as HQ Audio, so your Guests and the recording hear them in full quality.
