macOS won't let any app share your screen until you give it permission. If screen sharing does nothing, or your Guest can't see your screen, this is almost always why.
The screen-sharing button only appears once you're in an active Session.
Turn on screen sharing permission
- Open the Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Click Screen & System Audio Recording. On older versions of macOS it's called Screen Recording.
- Turn on the Sessionwire app. If you use Sessionwire in a browser, turn on your browser instead, for example Google Chrome.
- When macOS asks, click Quit & Reopen. The change only takes effect after the app restarts.
If Sessionwire isn't in the list
- Click the + button under the list.
- Go to your Applications folder, choose Sessionwire and click Open.
- Turn it on, then quit and reopen Sessionwire.
If your Guest sees your DAW but not your plugins
Plugin windows are separate windows, so sharing only your DAW's window leaves them out. When you start sharing, choose Entire Screen instead of a single window.
Things to know
- Screen sharing is included on Basic and Studio, and on the free trial.
- One person can share their screen at a time.
- Screen sharing sends what's on your screen, not your computer's sound. To let people hear your DAW, use HQ Audio with the Send plugin.
- Screen sharing lets people see your screen, not control it. To take control of another computer, see Remote Desktop Control in Plans and prices.
