Sonar, previously Cakewalk by BandLab, uses the VST3 versions of the Sessionwire plugins on Windows.
Send your mix
- Right-click in the FX Rack on your Master bus and add the Sessionwire Send plugin at the end. For a separate cue mix, create a bus, send each track to it, and put the Send plugin there instead.
- In your Studio, set HQ Audio Source to the Sessionwire Send Plugin.
- Press play and check your HQ Audio meter moves in the Mixer.
Record a Guest
The best recordings come from the performer's side. If you need to record here, read Record someone with the Receive plugin first, as the recording arrives late by the round trip.
- Turn on the Guest's HQ Audio in your Mixer.
- Create a stereo audio track with no input and add the Sessionwire Receive plugin to its FX Rack.
- In your Studio, set HQ Audio Destination to the Sessionwire Receive Plugin.
- Click the Receive track's Output and choose New Aux Track. Sonar creates an Aux track and connects the two.
- Set the Aux track's output to your interface's outputs, not the Master bus, so your Guest can't hear themselves back. Then arm the Aux track to record.
Windows settings
If the plugins say "Couldn't open input device" or you hear dropouts, check your Windows sound settings. See Set up Sessionwire on Windows. Keeping your audio interface's driver up to date also helps.
Talkback through Sonar
Only needed if your talkback mic isn't on input 1 or 2, or you want to process it. See Route Talkback through your DAW.
