Run a remote mix review

A mix review in Sessionwire works like having the client in the room. You play the mix from your DAW, they hear it in full quality, and you make changes while they listen. Your client only needs a link and a supported browser.

Before the Session

  1. Put the Send plugin on your main stereo output, after anything on your mix bus, so the client hears exactly what you hear. See the setup guide for your DAW in HQ Audio and your DAW.
  2. In Sessionwire, click the arrow next to HQ Audio and set HQ Audio Source to the Send plugin.
  3. Go to Settings > Session Settings and set HQ Audio Send Bitrate to the highest option. That's up to 256 kbps on Basic and 400 kbps on Studio.
  4. Send your client your Studio link and ask them to use headphones or good speakers, plugged into their router with an ethernet cable. Point them to Join a Session as a Guest.

During the review

  1. Press play in your DAW. Your client hears the mix in HQ Audio straight away.
  2. Turn on Automute from the Mixer, so your talkback mic doesn't send the mix back to them a second time. See Talkback, the Mixer and Automute.
  3. Take notes as you go. Ask the client to mention bar numbers or times, or to type them into Studio Chat so you have a list when you're done.
  4. Make changes and play them back while they listen.

On Studio, you can record the review so you have every note. Set it up before the Session in Settings > Session Settings > Session Recording, then click Record during the Session. See Record a Session.

Several people listening

On Studio, up to 50 people can join one Session. Invite the band or the label as Guests if they need to give notes, or send them an Audience link if they only need to listen. See Audience links.

After the review

Bounce the mix and send it by dragging the file onto the client's video, or from your Vault with a share link. See Studio Chat, Sessionchat and sending files.
